TREVOR BAUER: SPRING TRAINING WEEK 3 RECAP

BAUER: SPRING TRAINING WEEK 3 RECAP

TREVOR BAUER: SPRING TRAINING WEEK 3 RECAP

After a rough start, Trevor Bauer had an amazing outing this week against the Milwaukee Brewers. He did not start the game; he piggy-backed off of Clayton Kershaw, who started the game. Bauer only gave up three hits in his 5 innings, but two of these were homers. He seemed to be locked in besides giving up the two home runs, striking out seven in the ballgame, five of them in consecutive punch-outs.

Bauer did not have a bad outing in my eyes and hopefully in other fans’ eyes as well. Sure he gave up a couple of runs, but look at the bigger picture. Trevor pitched 5 innings while striking out seven (five consecutive) and allowing only two runs.

Now, some news broke out last week about Bauer and his uniform that I totally just forgot to include it in my recap. So, I will do that here. Trevor Bauer was shown wearing a non-MLB unauthorized undershirt with his logo on it that he was wearing during two Spring Training games against MLB policy. Bauer also had his logo on his belt too. Since those two games, MLB has issued a warning to Bauer. Now, I’m not sure if Bauer knew he could get in trouble with the MLB and the commission, but I think he knew and did it anyway.

[Editor’s note from Tavi: Some fans are saying that Bauer has the right to promote himself and he absolutely does. But Bauer’s personal brand has become a business in itself.  Even if it is tightly wrapped around Bauer’s image, it’s a separate entity in direct monetary competition with Major League Baseball. MLB was in the right to reprimand and fine Bauer for wearing another money-generating entity’s logo according to Rule 3.03j of the Official Rules of Baseball. Perhaps this rule will be amended in the future with further pressure from fans, but for now, it stands.]
