Pedro Baez signed with the…. Astros?
-
Earlier today, now former Dodgers relief pitcher Pedro Baez signed a two-year deal with the Houston Astros. He is going to be getting around $12-$14M guaranteed.
Baez spent seven years in the Dodgers bullpen and won the World Series in his last year with us. In this year’s free agency he was ranked the third best free agent relief pitcher (only behind Liam Hendriks and Brad Hand).
Seems to me that the Dodgers front office knew they weren’t going to sign him back. Their recent relief pitcher signings could be cause they knew they already lost Baez. I could be wrong but that’s how it seems.
It’s kind of a deal I think a lot of people saw coming but not to the Astros. It feels like some kind of betrayal. Or is that just to me?
Do you think this is a big blow to the Dodgers bullpen? Or do you think it’s still very solid?
