The Dodgers signed Reliever Tommy Kahnle to a 2 year deal worth 4.75 million plus incentives according to Jon Heyman. He will 750 thousand in 2021 and 3.45 million in 2022 with a signing bonus of 550 thousand. The thing is Kahnle had Tommy John Surgery after just pitching one inning this year and he will miss the 2021 season. In his career he’s been a pretty good pitcher, having 2 pretty elite seasons in 2016 and 2017 and good years in 2014 and 2019. He’s a big strikeout pitcher striking out 344 batters in 277 innings, which leads to a career 11strikeouts per 9 innings. He’s been strictly 4 seam fastball/ changeup combo in his career interesting enough in recent years he’s thrown his changeup a lot more, it’s his strikeout pitch. He has a hard fastball throws it around 97 MPH and his change will sit anywhere from 88-90 MPH its a hard change but gets great movement on it which induces plenty of swing and misses. He will also occasionally throw a slider. Once he gets healthy it should be yet another Andrew Friedman special, which low risk and high reward.
