The Dodgers agreed to a $16.1 million deal with Cody Bellinger, avoiding arbitration. Cody Bellinger had an unlucky 2020 with the bat. He was better than most of the league in hard-hit rate, and exit velocity just couldn’t find hits. His strikeout continued to decline which is a good sign and he took his walks. Cody should have a better 2021 with even just some better luck. Much closer to his MVP year. He remains elite defensively ranked as the best defender by outs above average. He’s versatile and plays great defense at 4 positions. He’s still just 25 and really can only get better. Here’s to hoping Belli’s 2021 season mirrors his 2019 and not 2020 even though he was unlucky.
