Eye On October – Saturday Sips
It’s nearing the end of August, and the Dodgers are within spitting distance of the Division lead. This drink, a twist on a Blue Hawaii by our contributor Isaac Anguiano, will remind you to focus on what really matters: winning the last game in October. Or if you have enough of them, you forget why you put yourself through this in the first place.

STARTING LINEUP:
- 1 oz light rum
- 1 oz vodka
- 1/2 oz Blue Curaçao (or to taste)
- 3 oz Pineapple juice
- 1 oz Sweet and Sour Mix
- Cherries and pineapple garnish
- Ice
BATTING ORDER:
In a shaker, combine rum, vodka, pineapple juice, and sour mix with ice. Shake well. Grab a collins glass and fill with ice. Pour mixture into the glass. Drizzle the Blue Curaçao over the top to release a little blue heaven in your glass.

Now the “eye” garnish here is pretty simple. Maraschino cherry, pineapple ring, toothpicks. Be sure to slice the ring and offset the gap a little so it can rest on flat on the side of the glass and stare at you. Right into your soul. Or just like, dump some fruit crap over the top, you do you!

NOTES FROM THE MANAGER:
In this variation of this delicious cocktail, it is your choice if you would like it fruity (if we’re up by 10 runs) or stiff (when the offense goes cold, again.) Hopefully it is the former and not the later when you decide to put this concoction together. If you choose to have more flavor you can use Malibu Rum for the coconut taste in your drink. Let’s just say we are not getting any runners on, over, or in. Your best bet is to turn off the television before you break it. I am kidding of course! Sort of. However if you do choose to torture yourself and continue to watch our firepower stuck on none, then I would recommend you bring your top shelf Bacardi Oakheart to numb your pain.
All right (in the voice of Linda Belcher) you have your drink in hand, the game is going on, also I hope you got some of your favorite snacks around you as well. Hell, throw some protein on the grill for all I care. Let’s raise this glass to the 2020 (and hopefully 2021) World Series champions. Here’s to the bullpen, to the Max Muncy home runs, to the diving grabs at the hot corner from Justin Turner, to the return of Clayton Kershaw, and most importantly – let’s enjoy this delicious cocktail responsibly.
