Bellinger Starts Rehab Assignment, Homers for OKC Dodgers
CODY BELLINGER Recap: May 17th – May 23rd
The 2019 NL MVP is one step closer to getting back on the field for the Los Angeles Dodgers! Cody Bellinger started his rehab assignment with the Oklahoma City Dodgers on Friday after being on the IL since April 5th with a hairline fracture in his left fibula. He got a hit in his first game and a home run on Sunday.
BELLINGER vs. Isotopes
May 21st – FIRST GAME BACK
Cody Bellinger nearly hit a home run in his first at-bat but ended up with a long flyout to right. In the second inning, he lined out to right. He got another at-bat in the fourth inning and flew out to left. Then he broke through in the sixth inning with a line drive RBI-single to right. He was taken out of the game in the bottom of the inning.
May 22nd – OFF-DAY ALREADY
Bellinger got the day off in this one, as the Dodgers are very methodical in bringing back players from injury and likely wanted to see how his body would react to his first game back.
May 23rd – BELLI HOMERS
Belli was back in the lineup for the OKC Dodgers on Sunday and started his day with a home run to right-center in his first at-bat. Then in the third inning, Bellinger grounded out. In the next inning, he got another at-bat and lined out. Bellinger grounded out again in the sixth inning, this time to shortstop. In the bottom of the seventh, Bellinger was charged with an error in center field. He was pinch-hit for in the eighth inning.
In a perfect world, Bellinger would’ve gone 8-8 with 8 homers and no errors over the weekend. But it isn’t, and I’m sure all Dodger fans are just happy to know Belli will be back on the field for the Major League club soon. Manager Dave Roberts said it was “fair” to believe Bellinger would be with the LA Dodgers this upcoming weekend.
