Kershaw Is Back

WOW! Kershaw is back!  Words can’t explain the feeling of seeing Kershaw out on the mound and seeing him be the Kershaw we all know and love.

Tension was rising as the Dodgers were about to face the Padres. Last encountering them in the NLDS, with a tension that began between Machado and a few other players. Not to mention the Padres acquisition of Yu Darvish and Blake Snell. It was without a doubt a match that had all eyes on it.

Kershaw vs. Yu Darvish

What many of us had been waiting for finally happened. Clayton Kershaw vs. former Dodgers/Cubs Yu Darvish. What a game it was! We saw Kershaw out there being himself. Only allowing two hits in six innings. This meant the Dodgers had to step it up if they wanted to win this game, which they did 2-0. There was little discussion with a Padres player as to the umpire’s call to add to this. This led to a cross of words and an increase in tension between the Dodgers and the Padres, which still wasn’t enough for the Padres to pull out a win.

To break it down for you, Jurickson Profar was at the plate, and on a 3-2 pitch, Profar hit Austin Barnes’ glove with his bat. At first, the umpire called Profar out for swinging at strike 3, but Profar argued it was catchers interference because he hit Barnes’ glove. However, unlike your normal catcher’s interference call, the ball was already in Barnes’ glove, so Barnes did not interfere with Profar making contact. The inning should’ve been over, but after more discussion with the umps, Profar was awarded first base. Kershaw was not happy about it, and that’s when the yelling back and forth began. Here’s the one and only Jomboy with the lip reading of the whole scenario.

Tension Buildup

This whole series was wrapped around the idea that the Padres let the idea of acquiring these two pitchers get to them a little bit. Blake Snell, without a doubt, most likely wanted to get even with the Dodgers as it was in game 6 when he got pulled out, meaning the Tampa Rays bullpen had to maintain the game, eventually not succeeding thus allowing the Dodgers to bring home the Championship. I don’t blame him for wanting to get even, but hey, the Dodgers gave it all in 2020 and are coming back even stronger to bring home the Championship.
