CLAYTON KERSHAW: SPRING TRAINING WEEK 2 RECAP

CLAYTON KERSHAW: SPRING TRAINING WEEK 2 RECAP

As opening day gets closer and closer, fans are eager to see World Series Champion Clayton Kershaw come out to the mound and see his championship journey begin once more. With the news that fans will be able to attend the home opener, it’s no wonder Spring Training games hype up the excitement to watch games in person at Dodger Stadium once more.

How did this week look for Kershaw? Well, let’s take a look.

His second Spring Training game came against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday, March 10th. Kershaw pitched a total of three innings, an increase compared to his last game against the Kansas City Royals

Kershaw’s first opponent: David Peralta. With two strikes and a ball, Peralta homers off Kershaw, giving the D-Backs a 1-0 lead. Next up, Carson Kelly grounds out for the 1st out on the inning. Following that, Josh Rojas strikes out on three pitches for the second out. Trayce Thompson grounds out, leaving the Dodgers just one run behind.

In the top of the second inning, still down by one, Kershaw faces Stephen Vogt, who grounds out. Up to bat next is John VanMeter, who manages to get on base due to a throwing error. Daulton Varsho pops out to Corey Seager for the second out. Kershaw strikes out the last batter faces in this inning, Pavin Smith.

The top of the third inning comes around and the Dodgers have yet to score. Facing Andy Young, Kershaw manages to strike him out. David Peralta grounds out for the second out of the inning. Carson Kelly comes up and hits a double. With a runner at 2nd base, Kershaw had to make sure to stop Josh Rojas, who in the end grounded out for the third out. This marked the end of Kershaw’s night.

Kershaw, in 3 innings, allowed 2 hits and 1 run.  In the end, the Dodgers won 3-2.

As opening day gets closer and closer, baby steps are all they need to go back and claim their title once more.
