TREVOR BAUER: SPRING TRAINING WEEK 1 RECAP

TREVOR BAUER: SPRING TRAINING WEEK 1 RECAP

Dodgers starting pitcher Trevor Bauer played two spring training games this week on March 1st and again on March 6th. Bauer’s first ever game wearing the Dodgers uniform was last Monday against the Colorado Rockies.

Trevor looked amazing in his first outing! Truly, and in my eyes as I expected him to do. Two innings is perhaps not much insight to what Bauer can do but he looked good. Against Colorado, he went two inning and only gave up one hit.  He also struck out two batters and picked up the win – his first win in Dodger Blue.

Bauer’s most recent outing came yesterday versus the San Diego Padres. He looked even better in this appearance.  This time, he went three full innings and still allowing zero runs.

Trevor Bauer caught every baseball fan’s attention when he struck out Padres player Brain O’Grady with one eye shut. After he got the strikeout, Bauer walked off the mound with his eye still closed, pointing to his eye.  If you were like me, I had no clue what that meant or if I meant anything at all. Later, we found out that Trevor Bauer has done this before. Bauer said, “I figured if they can’t score off me with one eye open it’s gonna be difficult to score off me with two eyes open”.

He talked about it very vaguely so I’m not sure if he will reveal why he does this but he said there’s definitely a reason. He sure showed what he is made of throughout his first two appearances.
