Will Smith Weekly UpdateBorn in Louisville, KY, Will Smith hit .528 his senior year of high school with 11 home runs in 2013 but went undrafted until his junior year of college, when he was selected by the Dodgers in the first round of 2016. Starting his pro career with the Ogden Raptors, Smith quickly made his way through the minors to Triple-A Oklahoma City Dodgers.

Will Smith made his name for his glove coming up the system.  He had a breakout minor league season in 2019 for Oklahoma.  Smith hit .268 with 20 home runs and 50 RBIs. Later that year, the Dodgers called him up to the major league club in May of 2019.

In the majors, Smith started off hot and ended cold. He finished the year with a .253 average and 15 home runs with 42 RBIs.  He was a part of the Rookie Walk Off Weekend along with Matt Beaty and Alex Verdugo.  The three rookies combined back to back to back walk offs to sweep the Rockies.

This year, the Fresh Prince of LAD started out slow but has been building his average up.  Bad luck accounts for most of his struggles. Smith hasn’t been chasing and has been hitting the ball hard but only has an average of .228 with 6 home runs and 15 rbis so far.
