Pedro Baez returned from the IL on Saturday, pitching a scoreless inning of relief for the Dodgers in their eventual 7-5 loss to the Astros. Baez faced Carlos Correa to start the inning, making short work of the shortstop with a couple of sliders for strikes followed by a fastball that bounced to second base. After missing his spot with a slider two pitches later, allowing Aledmys Diaz to knock a double down the first base line, Pedro struck out Josh Reddick swinging with a fastball up in the zone and got Martin Maldonado to ground out to third on one pitch to end the inning.

In his return to the mound it was a return to the consistency Dave Roberts has praised Baez for this season. While the Dodgers did not add any big pieces at the trade deadline, Dodgers fans can be glad that at very least the team is getting back one of their most important bullpen pieces right before the playoffs.
