Tumultuous Trade Winds – A Twist On A Classic

After a stressful trade deadline, it’s time to relax and get away for just a moment to reflect on a rather excellent week of wheeling and dealing.  This twist on a Dark and Stormy will leave you sailing on smooth seas all the way to October.

STARTING LINEUP

• 5oz. Ginger beer
• 2oz. Dark rum
• Orange peel and zest
• Luxardo Cherries

BATTING ORDER

If you have time, allow the cherries to soak in the rum for at least overnight. (We made this drink in jam jars whilst hiking in the San Bernardino National Forrest and ignoring the extra innings loss to the D-Backs.) Pop in one cherry for every All-Star player your team just trades for.  Add a small amount of orange zest and swirl. Add the ginger beer and ice, garnish with orange peel. Enjoy.

NOTES FROM THE MANAGER

You can of course substitute regular Maraschino cherries for the Luxardo cherries, but you won’t have quite as rich a taste. Stick with dark rums and sweeter ginger beers to get the best blend of flavors.
