Cold Week at the Plate for Mookie Betts

Cold Week at the Plate for Mookie Betts

It was another pretty cold week at the plate for Mookie Betts. He went 5-for-22(.227 average), but he struck out six times in five games. Another week of getting pitches to hit and he’s just flat out missing them. The offense as a whole is pretty cold but this performance is disappointing from Mookie, to say the least.

Mookie vs. Mariners

April 19 – Hit by Pitch

Mookie started the week well, going 2-for-4 against the Mariners in their 4-3 loss. He doubled and singled on the night, also scored a run on a home run by Corey Seager. In his last at-bat, he got hit on his right forearm, which causing him to miss the next game.

April 20 – Resting Up

Mookie sat out this game with soreness after he was hit by the pitch the night before.

Mookie vs. Padres

April 22

In game one vs. the Padres, he went 0-for-4 but walked in his first at-bat on seven pitches. However didn’t do much afterward, striking out twice and making weak contact.

April 23

Mookie went 1-for-3, hitting a double down the left-field line in his first at-bat. It came on a hanging slider from Darvish. He ended scoring that inning on a single by Muncy. He was also hit by a pitch and promptly stole second base. Other than that, nothing much from Mookie there.

April 24

Mookie went 1-for-4 with an RBI and drew a bases-loaded walk to tie the game. He did strike out again, which is very uncharacteristic of Betts. He reached base again, but it was because of an error by Tatis Jr.

April 25

It was a rough night for Betts. He ended the night 1-7, leaving a ton of men on base. First, he grounded out with the bases loaded early on in the game. He struck out looking with people on base, then popped out to right with runners on second and third in the bottom of the 11th. A rough night ended a rough week as they lose four out of six games.

A horribly cold week at the plate for Mookie Betts. Monday, they’re back at it against the Reds. Let’s hope for a better performance from Sir Betts.
