Back Tightness Puts Betts On The Bench

Unfortunately for Mookie Betts, his week was cut short due to a back tightness that put him on the bench and caused him to miss the last four games of the week. One against the A’s and the whole Nationals series. When he did play, he went 3-for-9 with a home run in his last at-bat before being hurt.

April 5th – Dodgers Blowout Win Over A’s

On April 5th against the A’s, he went 1-4 when he reached on an infield single that likely should’ve been an error charged to Matt Chapman. He reached in his second at-bat after grounding out. Betts then walked twice before getting out the last two times. He also scored on a bases-clearing double from Corey Seager.

Dodgers won 10-3.

April 6th – First Home Run of the Season

On April 6th he started in center field for the injured Bellinger and ended up going 2-5 with a home run. He quickly went 0-2, reaching on a fielder’s choice in his second at-bat, and then stole the first base of the season for him. But he barely stole and was running weird again hesitantly like he did when he scored on a passed ball in Colorado. In his 3rd AB, he smacked a single to straightaway center field; he then check swung grounded out to the pitcher and then ended his week by crushing his first home run of the season to left-center field.

Back Tightness Puts Betts On The Bench

These would be the only two games this week for Mookie. He had back tightness which put Betts on the bench and caused him to miss the remaining four. Let’s hope it’s nothing serious because he’s started the season pretty decently despite making pretty weak contact for Mookie. Plus, the Dodgers are going to need him for the long haul. He’s an important part of this team, as we saw in the playoffs and World Series. He didn’t hit like Seager but make no mistake, his baserunning and defense helped immensely to secure the Dodgers’ first World Series since ’88. He will be an integral part of the Dodgers if they wish to repeat or win another one at some point.
