Baseball is back!!!

Wow! Baseball is finally coming back even though most of us thought we wouldn’t get a 2020 season. After 100+ days of being in quarantine we finally got the news that baseball is back. Throughout those 100+ days I truly believed that we would not get baseball until 2021 but, here we all are. Patiently waiting for our favorite sport to return after it being gone for 8 months.
“Spring Training will officially begin July 3rd (after COVID-19 test) with players arriving no later than July 1st.” – per @BNightengale on Twitter. With there only being 60 games played this year we will be watching history this season. Opening Day will happen on July 23rd or 24th. Every extra-inning game will start with a base-runner at 2nd base in the 10th inning, the National league will have a DH in their lineups for the first time ever, and all teams will play 10 games against the teams in their divisions along with playing 20 games against teams in interleague play (only sticking to geographic region). Also, the schedule should be released sometime next week.
I have never been more ecstatic to get baseball back. When I heard that we are getting a 2020 season. At first, I honestly did not believe it because of all the different theories going around about what is actually going to happen and the MLBPA couldn’t figure anything out. Then the news broke out everywhere that it is official. We are getting baseball back in July. That entire day I could not stop smiling and was instantly in a better mood. It was frustrating to watch other sports starting to come back (like NBA and NFL) while the MLB could not get anything to stick but, they finally did it.
I am so proud to be back here writing about baseball and more importantly the Dodgers again. I’ve missed it so much and can not wait to go through this season and watch our boys bring home the World Series trophy. Hope everyone has a wonderful rest of your day. Stay safe!
