Move on.
Move on.
It is time to move on Dodger fans. The revelations made about these scandals broke hearts for many reasons. If you grew up in Northern California never seeing the Dodgers win a ring while seeing San Francisco win not one, or two, but THREE rings in a decade, it sucks, and that was my reality. Imagine now you find out that not once but twice the Dodgers were robbed of a Series win because the punk ass Astros and Red Sox wanted to cheat, guess what, it fucking hurt! TEN FOLD!!
I recall sitting with my dad as the series concluded. We watched the Astro players, running up and down the field celebrating and all we could do was sit and lament. “It was a hell of a series”, “Astros were just better”, and my favorite “fuckin Darvish blew it for us”, all of that and more. Losing as we did hurt but we truly thought it was to the better team. Fast forward to Mike Fiers blowing the whistle on the cheating scandal and all of those emotions came roaring back like a tidal wave of misery.
For months after the news broke, any chance I got to go on a rant decrying the Astros and Red Sox I’d take. When the commissioner came out with the investigation report and confirmed the allegations, oh my lanta I was filled with a righteous rage. You wanna know something though, We didn’t lose game 7 on the road, we lost it at home, so at the risk of sounding callous, GET OVER IT!!
We as fans have a job, with the job comes responsibilities-I’ll elaborate in a separate post about the duties at a later date. The number 1 duty is to hold the team accountable and to not give them excuses. We lost Game 2 and 7 at home, there’s no excuse there other than the other team was just better that day. Sure Kershaw in game 5 was damn near a god until that fateful trash can started banging in the 4th inning. Sure had they not cheated the way they did we MIGHT have won that game. It is all one big WHAT IF! In sports there is nothing more dangerous to the psyche of an athlete than the “What If” & “If Only” game. “What if we just did this” “If only we did that” etc etc. If we as fans fall into that nonsense, and allow the players a pass despite them losing that series at home, then we are doing them a disservice. Kobe Bryant would say “Winners don’t make excuses”, we as fans need to adopt that same Mamba Mentality and stop living in “What If” & “If Only” land.
Life moves on. The past is what it is. The future hold no bounds. We have a new season on the horizon, now say it with me. “We the fans are moving on, making no excuses, and taking no prisoners!”
I agree with you dude. So many fans do “what if’s and if only” including myself but that’s not what happened. I really want the MLB to strip the Astros and Red Sox titles away but, do I really think that will happen? No, sadly I don’t.
If it hasn’t happened already it’s not going to happen. I’d love for the annals of baseball history to have 2017 and 2018’s WS winner just blank, it’s just not going to happen. At the end of the day it’s out of mine and everyone else’s control.
